The disciples got all bent out of shape because they found others who were not of their own group healing people and using Jesus name to do so. Jesus told them if they were not against us they were for us. In other words, let them alone, they were still getting the work done! Is it possible to have different ways of doing things and still getting the same results? Just food for thought, what do you all think?

The firm’s target debt to capital ratio is 18%. I need to estimate the firm’s WACC using 9.25% for effective cost of debt. Then model the expected cash flows for the new product investment opportunity and value this opportunity at the WACC.

NOTE: I have attached a pdf that gives financial information on the firm’s competitors since it is a private company and has no beta. I am also attaching my forecasted financial statements given the two scenarios: not investing and investing.

Fast Ed’s auto showroom sells cars. Fast Ed’s bank requires the company to submit quarterly financial statements in order to keep its line of credit. Note Receivable and Accounts Receivable are 50 percent of current assets. Therefore, Bad-Debt Expense and Allowance for Doubtful Accounts are important accounts.

Fast Ed’s president, Ed Edwards, likes net income to increase in a smooth pattern rather than to increase in some periods and decrease in other periods. To report smoothly increasing net income, Edwards underestimates bad-debt expense in some accounting periods. In other accounting periods, Edwards overestimates the expense. He reasons that the income overstatements roughly offset the income understatements over time.

Required: Is Fast Ed’s practice of smoothing income ethical? Give your reasons, mentioning any accounting principles that might be violated.

According to Human Services ethical standards, written by the National Organization for Human Services

The below assignment has been written by another student. Please read it very carefully and reply to it by providing 150 meaningful words, apa format, at least 1 citation from course textbook: Martin, M. E. (2014). Introduction to human services: Through the eyes of practice settings (3rd ed.). Boston, MA: Pearson. ISBN: 9780205848058. Your work should be original work. Thanks (Stacy)

According to Human Services ethical standards, written by the National Organization for Human Services, professionals are expected to find strengths of individuals and society and encourage growth in those areas (2015). Once one realizes the merit of the abilities that he or she possesses, they are then more likely to focus on positive thinking since he or she is an asset with his or her talents. Scriptures agree with the importance of this standard as it states in 1 Peter 4:10-11, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others…If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ” (NIV). The distinct difference between Human Services ethical standards and biblical standards on this topic is that Human Services focuses on having others use their strengths to do their best for themselves and society whereas the Bible expresses that the primary reason strengths are encouraged is for the purpose of praising God. Not only does everyone have gifts that are to be strengthened, but there is even a unique need for each individual to utilize his or her specific skills within the community. This idea is backed in God’s Word when Romans 12:4-5 clarifies, “For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another” (NKJV). God sees every human’s skills as essential to His purpose as well as essential to one another for abundant living. In the article Utilizing community practice experiences to build self-efficacy in future human service professionals, B.E. Warner discusses the use of an asset-based approach in order for the future Human Services professional to use their strength and education to serve the community, to help others for others’ benefit and not for selfish motives, and to avoid viewing the client as the culprit for his or her own problems (2014). Another Human Services standard of ethics is that the professional may not distort to the community the credentials that they possess (NOHS, 2015). In order to do the best for their clients and for themselves, knowledge through educational and other avenues should not be deceitfully presented to clients in order to look more qualified or to acquire better business with additional clients. The lack of success with dishonesty is mentioned in Proverbs 10:9 where it is written, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out” (NIV). The government also imposes laws against malpractice and conducts audits with businesses to make sure there is no corruption in a practice. It is expected that any past behaviors of dishonesty be left behind when a person signs papers accepting a job in the Human Services profession. A difference, however, is that in Human Services, this is an expectation for employment, whereas God expects a change in behavior from dishonesty to honesty in each and every component of the lifestyle of Christians. Colossians 3:9-10 addresses this expectation by noting, “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator” (NIV). Again, there is a responsibility to others, but within biblical text, the most important being to be accountable to is God. A final ethical standard that is implicated by the Human Services field is that there is no favoritism or bias of any type correlated with the people that Human Services professionals choose as clients (NOHS, 2015). Some specific factors that may wrongfully cause discrimination are physical appearances, such as race, cultural upbringing, nationality or gender. No individual is any less or more important as a result of these different factors, and each potential client should be treated with equal respect and preference. John 7:24 confronts this issue as this verse boldly instructs, “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly” (NIV). Correct judgment does not allow appearance factors or religion, ability, language preference, socioeconomic status, or other factors similar in nature to influence the acceptance of new clients, diagnoses, or additional changes in services provided. The requirement to not judge one another based on socioeconomic status is specifically mentioned several times in biblical text, such as when James 2:1-4 states with a visual example that it is evil thinking to differentiate between a financially lacking person with unkempt clothing and a financially secure individual with fine jewelry and clothing (NIV). In the textbook Introduction to Human Services: Through the Eyes of Practice Settings, M. E. Martin points out that along with other defenseless populations, even individuals in prisons should have their necessities and rights supported by Human Services professionals (2014). To give one potential or current client preference over another client is corrupt in both Human Services and biblical viewpoints. Such behavior is grounds for firing a professional in the Human Services field, whereas this behavior causes separation between the professional and God on a personal and even more serious level than employment status.

Human service professionals obtain informed consent to provide services to clients at the beginning of the helping relationship.

Thanks (Hector)

STANDARD 2 Human service professionals obtain informed consent to provide services to clients at the beginning of the helping relationship. Clients should be informed that they may withdraw consent at any time except where denied by court order and should be able to ask questions before agreeing to the services. Clients who are unable to give consent should have those who are legally able to give consent for them review an informed consent statement and provide appropriate consent. Proverbs 11:3 – The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

– Professionals are supposed to be honest and sincere since the beginning of the relationship with the client. There is nothing hidden and helping professionals inform the client the risk and the cost of the services at front.

STANDARD 16 Human service professionals advocate for social justice and seek to eliminate oppression. They raise awareness of underserved population in their communities and with the legislative system. Psalm 9:9 – The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. – Like the Lord has advocated for me in the presence of the enemy and the power of sin, my role as a believer and professional is to advocate for those in need. The Lord reached me when I was oppressed by my own sin, now that I was set free by the blood of Jesus, I advocate for others. STANDARD 16 Human service professionals advocate for social justice and seek to eliminate oppression. They raise awareness of underserved population in their communities and with the legislative system. I1 Timothy 5:1-2 – Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity. -Older people, is one of the many communities that are vulnerable and oppressed in so many ways by the society and the system, as a believer and human service professional; my responsibility is to advocate and help this community. STANDARD 10 Human service professionals provide services without discrimination or preference in regards to age, ethnicity, culture, race, ability, gender, language preference, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, nationality, or other historically oppressed groups. Romans 10:12 – For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him

– We are supposed to serve everyone no matter his or her color, race or nationality without discrimination or preference regards to age, gender or ethnicity.

STANDARD 1 Human service professionals recognize and build on client and community strengths. Romans 15:1-2 – We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

– When comparing this scripture with this ethical standard from the human service professionals, I find that they are similar because they challenge the professional and the believer to take the initiative and the role of a leader by building up individuals who are in need.

STANDARD 20 when human service professionals have a conflict with a colleague, they first seeks out the colleague in an attempt to manage the problem. If this effort fails, the professional then seeks the assistance of supervisors, consultants, or other professionals in efforts to address the conflict. Mathew 18:15-17- If your brother or sister sins- go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

– There is a way to manage conflict in professionals and believers, and these two: scriptures and Ethical Standard 20 helps us understand how to deal with conflict among colleagues. For example, if I see a colleague mistreating a client or doing something that is not ethical at work, it is my responsibility to take the initiative to confront him, if he does not listen, I would go to my supervisor and then the supervisor would know what to do from there. Same way, I would manage it if I had a conflict with a client.

Human Service workers provide many services in which they assist individuals with improving their lives. Because of the nature of the work provided human services workers at any level are held to a code of ethics intended to protect the rights and dignity of the client as well as establish standards of practice. Human service professionals face ethical dilemmas and they need to consider the ethical code of conduct for providing best service to their clients (Martin, 2014). The bible can be used as a guideline for human service workers to refer to, it will assist an worker with humbling one self, refraining from judgment and walking down the way God intended

Ethical Standards are the fundamental values of the human services profession include respecting the dignity and welfare of all people; promoting self-determination; honoring cultural diversity; advocating for social justice; and acting with integrity, honesty, genuineness and objectivity (Ethics, 2014).

The bible speaks on Humans services Workers. The following are scriptural text referring to Human service Workers as listed in in the gateway bible. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace (1 Peter 4:10). In this scripture God is calling on his sheep to use the gifts he has provided each of us for the good, and to assist others when we seen a need.

Do not turn away a brother in need in James 2:14-17 he says: What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead (James 2:14-17)

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10). In this scripture we go beyond servicing clients, and this calls for you to treat everyone with the ethic standards. Even those we have hardened our hearts toward.

Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all (Romans 12:13-17). For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me (Matthew 25:35).

Nothing is new under the sun, just like in biblical times, in todays society we are called to help one another. Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:9) The answer is yes, as we are called by the Lord to serve, we are the keepers of our brother. In the Human services field as in the bible we are to keep respecting the dignity and welfare of all people.

The only difference between ethical standards and biblical ethical standards are whom they are directed toward. In the biblical sense this is a guideline use to govern all of your life in the way you treat all those whom you meet. In the Human Services field you are only required to uphold these principals with clients that you services.

As Christians and children of God we must remember that he has called on us to be an example to the world, to let our light shine. So as children of God we are already held to a higher standard of living, the ethical code just reintegrates how we are to threat others. This is a code for the people of the world to follow, because Christians should already provide respect, dignity, integrity, humbleness, and honesty. The bible says much about integrity and honesty of a believer.

And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules, then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, “You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.” (1 Kings 9:4-5 ) By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me. But you have upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in your presence forever. Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen. (Psalm 41:11-13) So you will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous. For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity will remain in it … (Proverbs 2:20-21 ) Did he not himself say to me, “She is my sister”? And she herself said, “He is my brother.” In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands I have done this. Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that you have done this in the integrity of your heart, and it was I who kept you from sinning against me. Therefore I did not let you touch her (Genesis 20:5-6) I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will make music. I will ponder the way that is blameless. Oh when will you come to me? Will walk with integrity of heart within my house (Psalm 101:1-2)

Choose three virtues, and then discuss how the three virtues you have selected may have appropriately guided the actions and behaviors of Mattel, Inc.

In a 5- to 6-page paper (not including your cover page and references), please address the following:

Choose three virtues, and then discuss how the three virtues you have selected may have appropriately guided the actions and behaviors of Mattel, Inc.

Keys to the Assignment Choose three “virtues,” and provide a clear definition of each (for example, you might choose such virtues as temperance, justice, honesty, or fairness); Apply each of the three virtues you have chosen to the Mattel case, describing how the virtue you have selected might have been used to more appropriately guide the actions, behaviors, and/or policies of the company (e.g., you may choose to discuss the company’s working conditions, worker safety, company fairness, or Mattel’s attitudes towards the environment). Considering the normative ethical theories we’ve studied in the first three modules (deontological, utilitarian, and virtue ethics), which do you believe is most useful in evaluating the Mattel case? Why? Be sure to integrate the theory from the journal articles you read in the Background Information section of this module (i.e., Hartman; Duchon & Drake) into your paper. Perform some additional research in the Library (include at least three additional references). Be sure that you include appropriate in-text citations throughout your paper, and include your sources in your end-of-paper Reference Section. Your references should be derived from at at least two peer-reviewed journals and at least one book that you have found in the TUI library. Your references may relate to business ethics, to virtue ethics, to the toy industry, or to any other relevant source. Of course, you are at liberty to include those references that you believe are most relevant and meaningful to your paper.

Choose three virtues, and then discuss how the three virtues you have selected may have appropriately guided the actions and behaviors of Mattel, Inc.
